Canton – Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg) of the womens basketball team and Bernadette OConnell (Buffalo, NY) of the womens hockey team have been named Roos of the Week, as announced on Monday.
Terrance, a former Salmon River standout, had a remarkable weekend leading the womens basketball team to a 1-1 week at the Penn State Beaver Tip-Off. The forward averaged 18.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist a game while shooting an extremely accurate 58 percent from the field. She opened the season leading all players with 14 points and 10 rebounds against Carlow.
The sophomore followed that up with her second double-double in two games finishing with 22 points and a game-high 16 rebounds in a thrilling 71-69 victory against host Penn State Beaver. The womens basketball team is back in action Tuesday when it hits the road for a 6 p.m. matchup at SUNY Potsdam.
OConnell had an impressive weekend leading the womens hockey team to one win and a tie on the road at Chatham University. The freshman forward finished with two goals and one assist on the weekend tallying her first career point in a 1-1 tie on Friday and scoring two of the four Roo goals in a 4-1 win on Saturday.
The womens hockey team returns home to the Roos House Friday when it hosts Buffalo State beginning at 7 p.m. The same two teams will play again Saturday at 2 p.m.
