OFA Cross Country team honored at banquet

A milestone number of Northern Conference All Academic award recipients and a solid finish by four runners at the New York State Cross Country Championships at Queensbury highlighted the OFA Boys and Girls Cross Country season. Last Wednesday, those efforts were noted at the Blue Devil runners’ annual awards night at the Elks Club.

“We had a record number of academic award winners with 15. That’s the most in my tenure as head coach. Overall, both the boys and girls finished 4-4 and we had four runners compete well at states. We had a very good year,” said OFA coach Chris McRoberts.

Team MVP’s were First Team All-NAC qualifier Donovan Smith and Kurstyn Macaulay while the Coach’s Awards went to Ellen Miller and Bailey Phelps. The Most Improved Runner Awards went to Sebastian Quintilliani and Zoey Bishop.

The Devils NAC Outstanding Sportsmanship Award recipients were Ellen Miller and Vinny Molinari.

Earning All Academic Awards for the girls team were Sarah Mitchell, Shauna Rickett, Kurstyn Macaulay, Ellen Miller, and Shelby Mack.

Donovan Smith, Nick Vielhauer, Collin Sovie, Bailey Phelps, Seth Montpelier, Owen Pearson, Tim Spearance, Sebastian Quintilliani, Nathaniel Stowe, and Seth Tebo earned All Academic Awards for the boys team.
