A Mass of Christian Burial for 82 year old Mr. Andrew Jackson Barney of Potsdam and formerly of North Bangor, NY will be held Saturday, November 30th, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. John Bosco Church in Malone, NY. Burial will follow in St. John Bosco Cemetery in Malone. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.

Mr. Barney is survived by his wife Joan of Potsdam, a son Alan Barney of Potsdam, four daughters Geralyn Barney of Potsdam, Mrs. Brian (Andrea) Harrigan of Potsdam, Mrs. Gerald (Maureen) Moll of Cape Coral, FL, Ms. Sharon Deuyour of St. George, VT, two brothers Donald Barney of Brushton, Douglas Barney of Ft. Covington, 9 grandchilren and 9 Great grandchildren. Two bothers David and baby William Barney and a sister Pauline Rousseau-Ferraro pre-deceased Andrew.

He was born in Malone, NY on Sept. 17, 1931 the son of Carl D. and Anna (Batraw) Barney. Andrew graduated from St. Joseph’s Ursulins Academy in Malone in 1950. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1950-1953. Andrew was married to Joan Theresa Dumas in St. John Bosco Church in Malone by Rev. Edward Rivette Sept. 8, 1956.

Andrew owned and operated A & A Electric in North Bangor, NY from 1969 to 1991. He was a two term Franklin County Legislator, and former Town of Bangor Justice for several years. A member of the American Legion Post 219 in Malone, Andy was an active member in Malone Catholic Parishes, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus in Malone.
