Hammond man finds kidney donor

HAMMOND — Christmas might come early this year for a Hammond man who needs a kidney.

After starting a Facebook campaign, “Scott needs a Kidney,” and months of searching, Scott W. Kron, 44, might have found a match that could save his life.

Support has been pouring in on his Facebook page, which has received 333 likes.

Mr. Kron, who has IgA nephropathy, a hereditary kidney disease, has been on dialysis for the past several months.

The donor could come in the nick of time. Mr. Kron’s town-sponsored medical insurance is set to expire next month.

Without a new kidney, the father of six has said he could have to pay more than $22,000 a month for dialysis treatment.

The potential donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, is from Lewis County, according to Mr. Kron’s Facebook page.

If the match is successful, Mr. Kron will have the transplant surgery at Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo.
