Waddington— Catharine R. Heisse, 93, of Brookview Drive, Waddington paced away peacefully at home on Dec 2, 2013. Catharine is survived by her husband Francis Heisse and children Cecelia Snyder of Gaffney, SC; Antoinette Heisse of Wildwood, NJ; Francis Heisse Jr. of Levittown, PA; and Dr. Rosemarie Heisse of Chase Mills, NY; her brother John Clarke; grandchildren John T. and Natalie Botchie, Brendan and Colin Grady; and Nicole Heisse and two great granddaughters. Catharine is predeceased by a brother Thomas and sister Mary. Catharine was born to John and Catharine (McGowan) Clarke on Feb. 29, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA. She married Francis Heisse on July 17, 1943 in Philadelphia. She worked for the Pennsylvania Dept of Agriculture for 21 years, initially as administrative assistant rising to Administrator of the Pennsylvania Fair Fund. She was the first woman to be awarded the prestigious award “Fairman of the Year”. She was the union president of Agriculture Local #13. She moved to Waddington, NY in 2007. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and was an avid writer, and loved Great Danes. Catharine was also a communicant of St. Margaret Mary Church in Harrisburg, PA, and St. Mary’s Church in Waddington, NY. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday Dec. 10, 2013 at St. Catharine Laboure Roman Catholic Church in Harrisburg, PA with Rev. Joseph Howard officiating. The family will be greeting visitors at church prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be following the service in Holy Cross Cemetery.
