A Watertown man was sentenced Wednesday in Jefferson County Court to 10 years probation for trying to send obscene material to a 13-year-old girl.
Travis J. Berger, 29, no fixed address, was also ordered to register with the state as a Level 1 sex offender after an Oct. 2 guilty plea to attempted dissemination of indecent materials to a minor. He admitted that on June 5 he tried to send the materials to a child with whom he had communicated online.

Colley Curry, 26, an inmate at Upstate Correctional Facility, Malone, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault. He had been accused in a grand jury indictment handed up in July of repeatedly jumping on the leg of another inmate at Watertown Correctional Facility, William Monarch, causing compound fractures to Mr. Monarchs tibia and fibula, requiring surgery and causing an extensive disability on Jan. 6.
He is expected to be sentenced Feb. 18 to an additional six years in prison, followed by five years post-release supervision. He is serving a five-year prison sentence imposed in New York County in 2010 for third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Susan C. Monroe, 55, Watertown, pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. She had been accused of selling heroin March 22 in Watertown. She is expected to be sentenced Jan. 21 to an unspecified amount of time served at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and five years probation.
Sonya M. Childers, 35, of 35651 Jackson II Road, Carthage, pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted offering a false instrument for filing. She was charged in July with misusing food stamps in 2008. She is expected to be sentenced Jan. 21 to three years probation and be ordered to pay $13,135 in restitution to the Department of Social Services.
