POTSDAM - The St. Lawrence Central varsity girls basketball team posted a 59-22 NAC Central Division win on the road over Potsdam Central on Friday.
Lindsey Thayer fired through a game-high 19 points as the Lady Larries jumped out to a 15-6 lead by the end of the first quarter before steadily pulling away from the Lady Sandstoners for their first win of the season. Jena Kesner added 13 points followed by Breanna Evans with seven and Bailee Gauthier with six. Morgan Greer and Haleigh Agans contributed four points each while Chelsea Savage, Megan Greer and Abby Taylor all finished with two.
Courtney DiTullio and Hannah Yaketta led Potsdam with six points each. Kayla Phillips and Alexis Peterson netted four apiece while Jade Garfield accounted for the other two.
In the other Central Division action Friday, Canton stopped Massena 80-30, Franklin Academy turned back Salmon River 54-34 and OFA downed Gouverneur 77-29.
Canton 80, Massena 30: At Jerry Hourihan Gym, the host Lady Bears worked their way to a 37-17 lead by halftime as Tori Daley led a balanced offense with 19 points followed by Kali Frank with 14, Natalie DiSalvo with 10 and Emily Pinckney with nine.
Samanntha Villnave scored all eight of her points in the first half before running into foul trouble for the Lady Raiders (1-2). Jessica Rode added six points followed by Robin Boudreau with four. Meghan Villnave and Jaylee Jones chipped in three points each. Bryunna Murray, Stephanie McKeel and Devin Kelly all finished with two.
FA 54, Salmon River 34: In Malone, the Lady Huskies ran out to a 31-12 halftime lead. Katie Lamica led all scorers with 19 points followed by Taylor Poirier with 10.
Kwiio King paced the Lady Shamrocks with 12 points followed by Taylor Francis with 10 and Jaden Mitchell with six while Lexus Jacobs, Jocelyn Martin and Brittany Brooks all added two.
OFA 77, Gouvenreur 29: Riley Luckie fired through 23 points, including six three-pointers, and Med Dodge netted four three-pointers in a 14-point effort for OFA.
Danielle Bullock led Gouverneur with 11 points and Alisha Way connected for another 10.
The lone NAC West Division game played on Friday saw Heuvelton beat Morristown 60-22.
