Patricia A. Young

Waddington, N.Y.- After recently being stricken with illness. Patricia (Pat) A. Young died peacefully with her children by her side in Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida on December 15, 2013.

Patricia was born February 25, 1944 in Ogdensburg, N.Y. the daughter of the late Lloyd and M. Areta (Fisher) Bashaw. She graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School. Massena Business School. and Computer Tech School in Syracuse. She worked as an attendant at St. Lawrence State Hospital for a time. She married John H. Young on September 4, 1972.

Pat is survived by her children including Amy Y. Wang and her husband, Michael,. N. Miami. Fla.; Janice Greene, Waddington, N.Y. and Jeffrey Young and his wife, Terry. of Massena, N.Y., and Jackie Scanlon and her husband Everett, of Canton, N.Y. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is her twin brother, Michael F .Bashaw, Sr. and wife Barbara of Cape Vincent. N.Y. and sister, Bonnie Bashaw-Strome and her husband , John, of Waddington, N.Y. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, an aunt and uncle, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1998.

Pat loved children and helped take care of many children through the years including the Gausby girls and Wade Lawrence. She used to run the craft fair with Diane Graves for the Homecoming and was the Coordinator of the Waddington Homecoming for a few years. She liked to reach out to help others often. She helped the Rescue Squad Auxiliary deliver calendars for several years. She was a communicant of St.Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waddington and at one time taught bible study to pre-school children. She loved doing crafts and at one time sold Granny’s Dolls at craft shows.

A memorial service will be held on December 27, 2013 at St.Paul’s Episcopal Church, Waddington,N.Y. at 3 p.m. There will be no calling hours.

Her family wishes to thank the Neurosurgical staff at Jackson Memorial in Miami, Florida for their care and concern during her stay and their kindness shown her family.

Memorial donations made be made in her memory to Waddington Rescue Squad.
