Deborah Jean Forget


Deborah Jean Forget, Debbie, age 49, died Sunday, December 22nd at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, resulting from complications from her 44-year battle with Juvenile Diabetes. Ms. Forget was a resident of Potsdam for her entire life.

Debbie is survived by her parents Peter and Jean Forget of Potsdam; her daughter Karen Jean Graves of Potsdam; brothers Mike (Susan) Forget of Potsdam and Thomas Forget and companion Darlene Harper of Lisbon; sister Amy (Ron) Watkins of LaGrangeville, NY; nieces and nephews Stephanie, Michael, Niklas, Shannon and Andrew Forget and a great niece Olivia.

Debbie was born October 2nd, 1964 in Canton, NY to Peter and Jean Forget. She was a 1983 graduate of Potsdam Central School and a 1992 graduate of SUNY Canton. She was a longtime employee of Canton-Potsdam Hospital and was currently working in the central scheduling department. She was an avid supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Association and FRAXA Research Foundation. She was a devoted hard-worker. A loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, Debbie always made time for others and sought to provide for those in need. Whether a warm smile or loving hand, Debbie was always there. Debbie loved to read, to travel and was an animal lover. She most enjoyed spending time with her great-niece, Olivia, and nephew, Niklas.

Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Friday, December 27th from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm in Potsdam, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, December 28th at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Potsdam, NY. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam.
