Calling Hours for Marjorie Kirby, age 90, of the Pinkerton Rd., will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Frary Funeral Home on 515 Caroline Street. Interment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Mrs. Kirby passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.
Marjorie is survived by five sons; George and his wife, Lucy , Steven (Mike) and his wife, Paula and Randall, all of Ogdensburg, Richard and his wife, Jane, of Texas, Scott and his wife, Colleen, of Battle Creek, Michigan; three daughters, Bonnie Sloan and her husband, Lyle, of Heuvelton, Christine Simmons of De Kalb and Dawn and Rick Simmons of Ogdensburg; a daughter-in law, Jacqueline, from Waddington; twenty three grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, John, in 2007, a son-in-law, Paul Simmons and three brothers, Stanley, George and Robert Morris.
Marjorie was born August 24, 1923 in Ogdensburg the daughter of George and Lena MacCumber Morris. She attended Ogdensburg Free Academy. She married Spencer Kirby on April 22, 1940 at the Stone Church in Ogdensburg with Rev. Myers officiating. Mr. Kirby passed away in 1993. Marjorie did the books for Kirby Construction while also running the family farm.
Mrs. Kirby served on the Ogdensburg Hepburn Auxiliary for many years in addition to other senior citizen organizations.
Marjorie was an avid bowler, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the St. Lawrence Valley Chapter of the SPCA.
