MASSENA- Edith I. McHugh, 90 of Delmar, NY died Wednesday morning ,(December 25, 2013) at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday morning (December 31, 2013) at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena starting at 10:00 am until the time of services. The Mass of resurrection will be held at 12 noon at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Edith was the last surviving sibling from a family of 12. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Edith was predeceased by her sisters; Marjorie Marlow, Mary Bogdovitz, Kathleen Greene, Ann Rodenrys, Helen Sabad, Mildred Mrowka, brothers; George, John, Joseph, Richard and William.

She graduated from Canton ATI with an associated degree in Food Service. She later earned BS in Food and Nutrition from Russell Sage in Albany.

Edith’s career began with an internship at the Philadelphia Hospital, later with Rochester United Hospital food service, RPI food service and East Greenbush School District having started there in 1959 and retiring in 1984.

Following her retirement Edith worked part time at the nutrition program at the Albany County Nursing Home.

Edith maintained her home here in Massena and in Delmar for many years. She was a communicant of the Church of the Sacred Heart. Those wishing to honor Edith’s memory may do so to the Massena Humane Society.
