Ronald R. Ronnie Mashaw passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his home in Russell, NY. A joint Funeral Mass will be held for him and his brother, Terry C. Mashaw, who passed away nine days earlier. The service will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Marys Cathedral, Ogdensburg, NY with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Arrangements remain under the direction of Frary Funeral Home on 515 Caroline Street.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Mashaw; two daughters, Michelle Mashaw of North Port, FL and Melissa Mashaw-Keen and her husband, Bobby, of Seffner, FL; six grandchildren, Ashley, Keith, Drew, Connor, Colin and Cole; one brother, Randy Mashaw and his wife, Terilyn; four sisters, Judy and her husband, Ed Wicks, Cindy and her husband, Willie Moore, Diane and her husband, Tim Boyer, and Debbie Mashaw. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Josephine; step-father, James Galvin; infant brother, Edward; his sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Roosevelt Powell and his eldest brother, Terry Mashaw.
Ronald was born on June 20th, 1947, the son of Emery and Josephine (Sovie) Mashaw. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and entered the Navy where he was stationed in Antarctica as a Seabee. He was previously married to BethAnn Sedlock and relocated to Florida where he raised his two daughters.
He later married his wife Nancy in Florida and they relocated to Russell, New York. There they worked together to ultimately build their dream home. Their passion was canvassing Northern New York in search of antiques and unique finds.
Ronald was an avid golfer and had a passion for fishing and being on the St. Lawrence River. He was the historian and memory keeper for the Mashaw/Sovie family and enjoyed sharing his wealth of knowledge with others. He volunteered his time to the St. Lawrence County Social Services Department as a driver and enjoyed meeting new people along his routes.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or a charity of ones choice.
