Funeral services for E. Marie Vinch, age 90, of Lake Street, will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at St. Marys Cathedral at 10:00AM with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Frary Funeral Home on 515 Caroline Street from 3:00 to 6:00PM. Mrs. Vinch passed away at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center on Sunday, January 5, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Vinch is survived by two sons; Chester Allen and his wife, Norma, of North Syracuse and Timothy and his wife, Carrie, of Ogdensburg; two daughters, Gail Callahan and her husband, Tom and Clara Gryzcka and her husband, David, both of Fayetteville; a sister, Mildred Lucas of Madrid; a sister in law, Lyeta LaMere of Orangeville, Ontario; twenty one grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Terry Vinch in 2003; a grandson, Terry M. Vinch, in 2013; a great granddaughter, Elaina Kate Callahan, at infancy; two sisters, Patricia Barkley and Phyllis Smithers and two brothers, William LaMere and Donald LaMere.
Mrs. Vinch was born on August 19, 1923 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of George and Mary LaTour LaMere. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy. She married Chester Vinch on December 13, 1940 at St. Marys Cathedral with the Rev. H. McFadden officiating. He predeceased her in 1988. She worked for JRC in Watertown for many years as a hostel manager and retired in 1988.
She enjoyed bingo and attending church.
