Salmon River girls net NAC Central hoops win over Gouverneur


GOUVERNEUR - The Salmon River varsity girls basketball team pulled away to a 54-32 NAC Central Division win over Gouverneur.

The Lady Shamrocks (3-3, 3-3) built an 11-5 lead by the end of the first quarter then broke the game open with a 15-8 second-quarter run.

Jaden Mitchell led the way with a career-high 28 points. Taylor Francis added 16 followed by Kwiio King with six while Jocelyn Martin and Brittany Brooks each chipped in two.

Alisha Way paced Gouverneur (3-5, 0-5) with nine points followed by Rebecca Bulsiewicz with eight, Jessica Rotundo with six, Haley Easton with three and Danielle Bullock with two while Brittany Durham and Emily Bush each netted a free throw.

In other NAC girls basketball matchups on Wednesday, Brushton-Moira netted a 57-26 East Division win over Norwood-Norfolk and Hermon-DeKalb dropped West Division rival Edwards-Knox 84-29.

In two NAC boys basketball games played Wednesday, Salmon River gained a 51-33 Central Division decision over St. Lawrence Central and Brushton-Moira beat East Division rival Norwood-Norfolk 71-22.
