Less than a year after opening, Rays Odds n Ends, 940 Fort St., is closing its store.
With the store closing Saturday, owner Ray R. Harmon Sr. said hes marking down nearly everything in stock.
Mr. Harmon, who also works full time as a corrections officer, said the store turned out to be more hassle than it was worth.
Its just too much, he said. I didnt think it would be this involved.
Citing a lack of sales volume, Mr. Harmon said maintaining a storefront required more time and money than he was able to contribute.
Its eating my profit, he said. This really wore me out this year. I feel like I aged.
The store featured a varied collection of furniture, glassware, knickknacks and items by local artists and crafters.
Mr. Harmon, who previously ran a similar business out of the Canton Fashion Kraze flea market, said he plans on bringing much of the stores stock to auction.
Everything else will be sold at annual garage sales he has at his home on McIntyre Road and through the stores Facebook page, which Mr. Harmon said he will maintain.
With the stores last day fast approaching, Mr. Harmon said all glassware and home décor is 50 percent off. He is selling boxes of assorted items for $5.
Mr. Harmon also said he is selling furniture for the best offer.
The store is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday.
