Privateers win, thanks to Berisha’s 5-point night

Beni Berisha recorded a five-point night, including scoring three goals, as the Watertown Privateers rolled past the Danville Dashers, 6-2, on Saturday night in a Federal Hockey League game at Watertown Municipal Arena, extending their winning streak to five games.

Dane Erickson contributed a goal and two assists for the Privateers (12-13), who have also won seven of their last eight games.

Matt Anthony stopped 33 of 35 shots for Watertown, and Kris McCarthy and Dustin Skinner added a goal each.

Leading 2-1 entering the third period, Watertown struck for five goals over the first 14 minutes, including three scores in 7:29. Berisha capped the outburst with a pair of power-play goals in 2:33.

The period also included a total of nine game misconducts were handed out — to Danville’s Jamie Zalewski, Dustin Henning, Ryan Huggett, Justin Barr and James Robbins — as well as Watertown’s Skinner, Jeff Dill, Colby Spooner and Liam Tully, all with 12:58 remaining.

The full-scale melee erupted when Dashers goaltender Nick Neidert through a body check on Dill along the boards. The end result was all 10 position players on the ice received major penalties for fighting and the game misconducts whileNeidert received a major for fighting and a roughing penalty which placed the Privateers on a power play.

Robert Vanwysberghe scored a pair of goals for the Dashers (7-20).

Watertown will host Danville at 7:35 p.m. next Friday.
