OFA Continues run at SLC


BRASHER FALLS - Heading toward a five-day break in their schedule the OFA Blue Devils (9-0 NAC) continued their dominant run toward an NAC Central Division title with an 89-24 win at Brasher Falls on Friday. The number four state-ranked Devils will return to action on Friday by hosting Gouverneur.

Kinnon LaRose (8 rebounds) netted 14 of 15 free throws in a 31-point effort to lead the OFA effort on Friday. Jack Manke (4 points) continued to expand his inside presence producing 10 rebounds and three blocks while Matt Piercey (15 points) and Colin Ross (10 points) each passed out six assists.

Seth Pinkerton and Al Fisher tallied six and five points.

“The guys continue to play well up and down the lineup. Our starters have only played in two fourth quarters for a total of nine minutes in our league games,” said OFA Coach Mark Henry. “Tonight Jon Rogers came off the bench and gave us excellent energy on offense and defense. “

Josh White and Bradley Francis scored nine and seven points for SLC.

The OFA JV’s also stayed undefeated in divisional play posting a 79-42 win led by 19 points from Joey Dalton and 14 from Peyton Lalone.

“Joey Dalton has really become a tough matchup. He can play the five, four and three spots and he is hitting his jumpers,” said Coach Scott Sargent who also cited the play of reserves Will Kroeger and Kevin Joanette who tallied nine and eight points.


The Massena Central and Potsdam Central both survived close calls on their homecourts. Massena 55, Salmon River 53: “Salmon River came right at us to the end,” noted Massena coach Tom Miller after his squad improved to 8-1 in the Central. Dante Viskovich anchored the Raider scoring with 12 points and Ryan Haas drilled three three-pointers in an 11-point effort. Josh Hynes fired through four three-pointers for SR.

Potsdam 46, Canton 44: In Potsdam, sophomore Jack Byrnes converted on an offensive rebound with seven-tenths of a second left to lift the Sandstoners (6-6, 5-4). Dequan Pitts paced the Potsdam offense with 13 points while Brynes finished with eight points along with senior Nick Vaccaro, who drilled a pair of fourth-quarter threes. Louden Porter led Canton (5-6, 3-6) with 13 points while Evan LaPoint added 12.
