Super Science Saturday to be held at JCC

Jefferson Community College’s 7th Annual Super Science Saturday, designed for students in grades 5 through 8, is slated for Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place in the Jules Center, McVean Student Center and Guthrie Science Building. All family members are welcome to attend. Admission is free.

Super Science Saturday is a celebration of math and science and an exploration of science careers with interactive exhibits including a giant 20-foot-long, walk-through colon.

Students will have the opportunity to explore and see how much fun science can be by participating in hands-on demonstrations. JCC faculty, assisted by current students, will give demonstrations in zoo keeping, chemistry, biology, geology, math, engineering and health-related careers.

The event will feature a chemistry magic show presented by James Peploski of Clarkson University and a laser and rainbow show presented by Thomas C. Altman. Several community organizations will be on hand to share career information and put on interactive activities with students.

For more information, visit or call the Science Division at JCC at 786-2320.
