Downtown Business of the Year award shared by Washington Street Properties, Tunes 92.5

Two businesses shared the 2013 Downtown Business of the Year award announced Friday at the Paddock Arcade by the Watertown Downtown Business Association: Washington Street Properties LLC and Watertown radio station Tunes 92.5.

Washington Street Properties, a commercial real estate company owned by Brian H. Murray, was nominated for its investment in a number of downtown buildings in 2013. Plans include the renovation of apartments at the Lincoln Building and Solar Building on Public Square.

Tunes 92.5 (WBLH 92.5-FM) was nominated because of its promotion of small businesses.

Square Lion Coins and Jewelry received the Downtown Institution award for its presence downtown for many years.

Three other groups received Community Service certificates for support of organizations in the area: Rhonda’s FooteWorks, Benefit Services Group and the Taekwondo Training Center.

Johnny D’s Restaurant was awarded an honorable mention certificate for its continuing support of downtown.

Maryann Bancroft, a 50-year employee of the Crystal Restaurant, received the President’s Award for longtime service from David A. Winters, DBA president.

Awards were sponsored by the DBA and the Watertown Small Business Development Center.
