Salmon River blanks OFA

“They skated very hard, they played with excellent skills and they forcechecked extremely well. For three periods.”

That is how OFA Hockey Coach Jon Frederick described the effort of Salmon River Central which recorded a 3-0 NAC interdivisional hockey victory at the Edgar Newell Memorial Golden Dome in a Tuesday night makeup game.

The Shamrocks limited the Devils to 16 shots and kept consistent pressure on OFA goaltender Dave Prudhomme who finished with 33 saves.

“Dave (Prudhomme) played well again in goal, he always does. He didn’t have a chance on any of their goals,” said Frederick who will have his team at home again tonight to host a Division II matchup with the Thousand Islanders-Alexandra Islanders.

The Shamrocks scored a goal in each period. Tye Terrance deflected home a shot from Nate Smoke for a first period power play goal. Sean David buried a short range slap shot off a feed from Ronnie Boots in the second period and Skkylar Thomas scored through a screen of players in the third with Chad George and Terrance assisting.

“This was a big game for us and we really played well. We are looking to establish a new attitude,” said Salmon River Coach Tim Cook after the DI Shamrocks lifted their NAC record to 5-7 (5-8 overall)

“We have Potsdam tonight and if we can play like this again I think were are right where we want to be.”

Jarrod Jackson stopped 16 saves for a shutout and made his best stops of the night in the final four minutes.

“We had some good chances at the end of the game and put together some good moments tonight. But we just didn’t sustain them,” said OFA Associate Coach Matt Morley.
