Clarkson (17-14-3 overall, 10-9-1 ECAC Hockey) closes out the regular season this weekend with home games against Princeton (7:30 p.m. Friday) and Quinnipiac (7 p.m. Saturday).
The Golden Knights have already clinched home ice for the upcoming conference playoffs, they just don't know if that will mean next weekend or if they will earn a first-round bye and play in two weeks.
Clarkson is in sixth place, one point behind Yale, and the worst position the Golden Knights could have is seventh. A win or tie in Friday's game against Princeton, or a Rensselaer loss, would clinch at least sixth place for Clarkson. Clarkson needs to pick up at least three points, and hope Cornell loses two games at home and Yale loses or ties at least one game, to finish in fourth place, which would earn the Golden Knights a first-round bye.
One more win also would clinch Clarkson's first winning season since 2007-08. If Clarkson splits this weekend the worst possible record it could have would be 18-17-3.
This week's Clarkson Notes, in Friday's paper, will include a feature story on senior Allan McPherson, who is five points shy of reaching 1,000 for his career.
That means this week's video interviews are geared toward the feature story and include coach Casey Jones, McPherson and his roommate for four years, senior Mike Garlasco.
