POTSDAM Two Potsdam men are facing charges after a physical altercation escalated to one of them firing a rifle pointed at the other early Saturday morning.
Gregory H. Spring, 52, of 6764 State Highway 56, was charged by St. Lawrence County sheriffs deputies with first-degree reckless endangerment, a class D felony, second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor, and third-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor.
Xaver P. Vanarsdale, 34, lives on the same lot, but authorities said there are two separate entrances to the residence. Mr. Vanarsdale was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree criminal trespass, a class A misdemeanor.
Detectives and deputies said Mr. Vanarsdale allegedly entered Mr. Springs residence and refused to leave, which led to a physical altercation.
Deputies said Mr. Spring got a loaded rifle from another room, pointed it at Mr. Vanarsdale and shot a round in close range of him.
Although no injuries resulted from the gunshots, both men suffered minor injuries from the altercation.
Both were released and are scheduled to appear in Town Court.
