Katheryn Carr


Boothbay Harbor- Katheryn Jessie Umber Hunter Carr went to her Heavenly Father on Saturday March 1st, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family. Katheryn was born in Lake Placid NY the youngest of 11 children to Richard and Emma (Stalker) Umber. She graduated High School and went on to become a dedicated Registered Nurse.

She was married to Wallace Hunter (deceased) of Ogdensburg NY, then, married Lowell Alan Carr.

Katheryn was predeceased by her husband Lowell A. Carr, her beloved daughter Judith Hunter Wylie Fox, and her great grandson Michael Green.

She is survived by her daughter Gail M. Hunter of Woolwich Maine; son Gregory A Carr of Ogdensburg NY; grandchildren, Donald Wylie, Tamie Winters Bedard, Sandra A. Winters, Daniel T. Winters, Ryan Carr and special honorary grandchildren Donna Grover Colford and Frank Grover III. She had 20 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren with one on the way! She is also survived by many nieces and nephews including special nieces and traveling companions Shirley Mills and Anne Terry.

Katheryn was a member of the VFW and the AMVETS in Ogdensburg NY. She enjoyed volunteering in the kitchen, dancing, bingo, travel, gambling, and living life to the fullest. Her favorite saying was “To each their own”. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A special thanks to the staff at Safe Havens of St. Andrew’s Village in Boothbay Harbor, ME for the loving care given to Kay in her final years.

Memorial contributions to Veterans Services may be made in leiu of flowers. Arrangements are made by Desmond Funeral home. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
