The Rev. Douglas Lucia will present the Lenten Mission sponsored by Notre Dame Church and St. Marys CathedralMarch 31 through April 2.
This years Mission theme is The Joy of the Gospel.
Father Lucia will be preaching at all weekend Masses on March 29 and 30 (Saturday, 4 p.m. at St. Marys Cathedral and 5:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Church; Sunday, 8 and 11a.m. at St. Marys and 9:30 a.m. at Notre Dame). The topic for these talks will be A joy ever new, a joy which is shared.
Daily topics will include:
March 31 - A mother with an open heart; 7p.m. Mass at Notre Dame Church followed by the Sacrament of Reconciliation
April 1 - No to selfishness and spiritual sloth; 7p.m. Mass at St. Marys Cathedral followed by the Sacrament of Reconciliation
April 2- Words which set hearts on fire; 7:00 p.m. Mass at Notre Dame Church followed by refreshments.

Rev. Mr. Lucia was born in Plattsburghand grew up in Altona. He studied for the priesthood at Wadhams Hall Seminary College, Ogdensburg, and Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora. He was ordained in 1989 by Bishop Stanislaus Brzana, and subsequently served in Watertown, Plattsburgh, Ogdensburg, and Cornwall, Ontario. In 1997 – 1998, Rev. Mr. Lucia studied Canon Law in Rome, Italy. Upon completion of his studies, Rev. Mr. Lucia was appointed adjutant judicial vicar and vice chancellor for the Diocese of Ogdensburg. He has also served as diocesan director of vocations, director of seminarians, diocesan chancellor, and episcopal vicar for diocesan services.
Rev. Mr. Lucia has also served as pastor in Heuvelton and Morristown. He currently serves as pastor of St. Marys Church, Canton, adjutant judicial vicar, and episcopal vicar for worship and priestly formation.
