MASSENA - A home on County Route 37 in the town of Massena was declared a total loss following a Tuesday night fire.

The Massena Fire Department was called out to a working structure fire at 9:59 p.m. Tuesday at the Mandy and Derrick Planty residence, 442 County Route 37. The home had three occupants, fire officials said.

Mutual aid was provided by volunteer firefighters from the Louisville, Brasher-Winthrop and Helena departments. Massena Rescue also responded to the fire scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and fire officials said the home was insured.

Online sources say the four-bedroom home with approximately 1,700 square feet was built in 1986.
