CANTON - Six teams will participate in the annual wounded warrior sled hockey tournament scheduled for Friday through Sunday at SUNY Cantons Roos House Arena.
The tournament is again sponsored by the Society for American Military Engineers and the Canton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1231.
Organizer Mark J. McKenna said the proceeds will go to the Mountain Warriors sled hockey team from Fort Drum and the Wounded Warriors Project.
Participating teams include the Syracuse Central New York Flyers, Buffalo Sabres Warrior Veterans, Ottawa Valley Falcons, Fort Drum Mountain Warriors, Ohio Sled Hockey and Montreal Sled Hockey.
Fridays games will be played at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The following day, games are scheduled for 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The championship game is 10 a.m. Sunday.
Donations will be accepted at the door and there will also be a 50/50 raffle and chuck-a-puck. Also, memorabilia from the National Hockey League will be raffled off and sold through silent auction.
Other major sponsors include the Knights of Columbus, Save-A-Lot, Price Chopper, Commercial Press Ink and SUNY Canton.
