Demonz score three in third to top Privateers

DAYTON, Ohio — The Dayton Demonz used three third-period goals as it beat the Watertown Privateers, 6-4, in a Federal Hockey League game on Thursday night at the Hara Arena.

Casey Mignone and player-coach Trevor Karasiewicz scored within 1 minute, 30 seconds as Dayton (33-15), rallied from a 4-2 deficit after the second period. Jesse Felten tallied in the third and former Prviateer and Brownville native Brian Marks scored in the first for the Demonz.

Brad Ritter tallied a pair of second-period goals, while Ray Tremblay added three assists for Watertown (18-30). The two teams play each other again 7:35 tonight in Dayton.

n The Watertown Privateers will join forces with the Mountaineers hockey team of Fort Drum for a skills competition and exhibition game Wednesday at Watertown Municipal Arena to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

The skills competition will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and includes hardest shot, fastest skater, breakaway challenge and skills relay events.

A “Split Squad Classic” game, in which Privateers players will mix with Mountaineer players is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at the arena. The event also includes a spaghetti dinner at Maggie’s on the River from 5-7 p.m. Admission to the game is free with a donation to benefit the Wounded Warrior cause, and non-perishable items will also be collected for the Watertown Food Bank.
