A full 100 percent of the residents of West Stockholm report Irish ancestry, according to a searchable database of U.S. Census Bureau information created by the Syracuse Post Standard.
West Stockholm, however, has only 42 residents. The village of Aquebogue in Suffolk County on Long Island also has 100 percent of residents reporting Irish ancestry; it has just 21 citizens. In larger cities, the results are more diluted. In Syracuse, for example, 15.2 percent of 144,605 residents report Irish ancestry, according to the database. In New York City, the figure is 4.9 percent of residents.
In Jefferson County, two highs were in the 13674 ZIP Code of Pierrepont Manor, with 46.2 percent, or 66 residents, and the 13665 ZIP Code for Natural Bridge with 41.2 percent, or 643 residents, claiming Irish ancestry.
