St. Lawrence men’s lacrosse defeats Middlebury, 14-7

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Conor Healey finished with four goals and one assist to lead 20th-ranked St. Lawrence University men’s lacrosse team to a 14-7 victory over Middlebury on Tuesday.

The victory is the first for St. Lawrence in more than 15 years, and the Saints were outscored 45-17 in the previous three meetings.

Jeremy Vautour supplied two goals and two assists, and Nick Ford made eight saves for St. Lawrence (3-1).

Jack Rautiola scored two goals for Middlebury (1-4).

St. Lawrence is scheduled to open the Liberty League regular season on Saturday when it hosts Skidmore College at 1 p.m. at Hall-Leet Stadium in Canton.

BASEBALL

CLARKSON 5, HOPE COLLEGE 1

Anthony Padrazo drove in two runs on one hit to help power Clarkson University to victory over Hope College at Auburndale, Fla.

Winning pitcher Jarrod Mattingly came within an out of recording a complete-game shutout.

John Coleman smacked a home run, and Dom Pirro added two hits, including a double and an RBI. Dan Lenney and David Wixted each added two hits for Clarkson (4-4).

Eric Vachon finished with two hits and drove in the only run for Hope College (1-5).

SQUASH

Saints sweep awards

St. Lawrence University’s men’s squash team swept the Liberty League season-ending awards for the first time in program history, the school announced on Tuesday.

Amr Khalifa was named Player of the Year, Moustafa Bayoumi was the Rookie of the Year, and Chris Abplanap, Pamela Larromana, Greg Kreitzer and John Bursnall were collectively named the Coaching Staff of the Year.

The Saints finished a program-best 13-4 this season. They won the league championship and posted their highest national team ranking ever, fourth, while finishing fifth at team nationals.
