Reginald F. Chester. 94, of Liverpool, passed away on Monday, March 10th, 2014 at Crouse Hospital. Reginald was born in Gouverneur, NY and was a longtime resident of the Liverpool area. He was a US Army veteran and staff sergeant with the 10th Mountain Division serving in WWII. Reginald was awarded the Purple Heart and was also a bronze star recipient. He was employed with the Liverpool Central School District for over 35 years as a custodian, and after retiring worked as a crossing guard for the district for many years. He was a member of the Liverpool American Legion Post 188, and was a longtime member and past deputy chief of the Liverpool Fire Department for over 55 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion Smith Chester in 2012.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Reginald Chester II (Mary Jean) of Lisbon, NY; Marny (Mike) Peterson of Greenville, TX; a brother, Charles Chester of Cleveland, OH; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great great granddaughter: several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St. Liverpool. A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM. Interment will be in North Syracuse in the spring.
