Marion T. Dawson


Funeral services for Marion T. Dawson, age 85, of St. Joseph’s Home and formerly of River Rd., Ogdensburg, will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014, at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 1:30PM with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery later in the Spring. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Frary Funeral Home, on 515 Caroline Street, from 1:00 to 5:00PM. Mrs. Dawson passed away on Wednesday evening, April 2, 2014 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Dawson is survived by one daughter, Jane King and her husband, Robert, of Ogdensburg; three grandchildren, Katie Ann Geary and her husband, Chris, Ashleigh Marie Graveline and her husband, William and Michael George King all of Ogdensburg; a brother, Jack Hollis and his wife, Elaine, of Ogdensburg; a sister-in-law, Jean Hollis, of Ogdensburg; four great grandchildren, Brinlee Geary and Mason, Easton and Everett Graveline and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dawson was predeceased by two sisters; Rita Montroy and Bette Hollis; two brothers, Charles and William Hollis and a sister-in-law, Hilda Hollis.

Marion was born on July 6, 1928, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Walter and Pearl Farrand Hollis. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1946. Marion married William LeRoy Dawson on October 28, 1978. The marriage was blessed by Father Wright in 1986. He predeceased her on March 25, 2009. She first went to work for Niagara Mohawk and then later for St. Lawrence Gas where she retired.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening and woodworking.
