MASSENA—Massena Music Friends invites community members to enter teams in the group’s second annual Trivia Night fundraiser, set for 7 p.m. April 26 at Dar’s Restaurant in the Quality Inn downtown.

The entry fee is $20 per person or $80 for a maximum four-person team. The trivia master once again this year is Todd Truax, morning personality from B 99.3 FM in Potsdam and veteran trivia contest host.

“Last year’s Trivia fundraiser raised over $2,000 for school music and everyone involved said they had a really great time,”Massena Music Friends President Paul Haggett said . “Debbie Guimond is chairing this event for us again, so there will be lots of great auction items from local businesses available as well as 50/50 raffles in addition to the trivia fun.”

Last year’s Trivia Night boasted a total of 21 teams, with several signing up to play the night of the event. “We are expecting slots for teams to be in high demand,”according to Haggett, who noted that spectators are also encouraged to cheer on their favorite teams. There is no admission fee for spectators.

While one point of the Music Friends annual Trivia Night is to have a great time, the serious side of the event is that all monies raised will be put back in to the Massena Central School District music department. “With yet another tight school budget there are no district funds available for some badly needed new instruments and instrument repairs,” Haggett said.

MMF is currently raising funds for the purchase of a new digital classroom piano for the junior high school, two beginner tubas for the elementary band and funding the repair or replacement of broken string basses for the orchestra program. “Virtually every student in the Massena district benefits from our school music program. A successful trivia night fundraiser will help make sure we have the equipment needed to keep the program strong,” Haggett Massena MNsaid.

To enter a team or as an individual in the trivia contest, find an entry form online at www.mcsmusicfriends.org or on the Massena Music Friends Facebook page, print it out and send the form and a check to Massena Music Friends, P.O. Box 83, Massena 13662. For questions or more information, contact Paul Haggett at 250-1625. Entries will be accepted first come, first served up until the time of the event.
