Remington Art Museum Juried Art Exhibit is accepting submissions

Thedeadline for artists to submit artwork in the Frederic Remington Art Museum’s 2014 Members’ Juried Art Exhibit is next week.

In the 2014 Members’ Juried Art Exhibit, the museum’s member artists are invited to submit up to three digital photos of their art by April 16. Open to artists everywhere, one work from each artist is guaranteed acceptance. This exhibit is the museum’s most inclusive juried art exhibit; every artist gets at least one work in the show. It’s during the museum’s peak tourist season, so gets maximum exposure.

An artist who is not yet a museum member may join with their entry into the exhibit. The deadline for submission of digital images via email to or on CD, entry form and payment is April 16. The exhibit opens with a reception on May 17, and will remain on view through Sept. 28. Works in the exhibit may be offered for sale, with one third of the price benefiting the museum. For more information and a prospectus, contact, or download the prospectus at, or call 315-393-2425.

The juror chooses from digital representations of up to three artworks, and also awards prizes for “best in show,” 2nd and 3rd place. A “Public’s Choice” award will be chosen by visitor ballots cast throughout the exhibition. The prize, a framed print of Frederic Remington’s 1908 painting, Pete’s Shanty, will go to the winner.

The juror is Rebekah Wilkins-Pepiton a visual artist working in photography, printmaking, and graphic design. She lives in Canton, New York and serves as the Executive Director of the St. Lawrence County Arts Council. Her art work has been shown in galleries across the US and published in a variety of journals and full length books. Her solo exhibition, “99: China from the Outside In,” was on display in Potsdam, NY, December 2013 to January 2014. Her woodcut prints were part of the “Old Crows and Other Blackbirds” exhibit alongside seven diverse artists at Paul Smith’s College VIC, February 2014.

The Frederic Remington Art Museum is located at 303 Washington Street.
