Massena man jailed on county court bench warrant

BENCH WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police picked up Damion A. Giarratano, 20, of 94 Woodlawn Ave., Massena, on a St. Lawrence County Court bench warrant for an alleged probation violation at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 109 Woodlawn Ave. He was transported to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, where he will be held pending arraignment in county court.

Giarratano had been indicted on a felony count of second-degree criminal mischief stemming from an incident on June 18, 2012.

Police said Giarratano entered a bus parked behind the New Testament Church and broke approximately nine windows with a fire extinguisher at approximately 12:45 p.m. that day.

The church’s youth pastor said he was in his office when he was alerted three young people were in the parking lot throwing rocks at the bus. He said when he went outside he saw the broken windows and the female and two males leave the area and go to a nearby house. He said when he knocked on the door it was answered by one of the young men he had seen leave the parking lot. Police arrived on scene moments later.
