Brasher Beavers close season with Scottsville tourney win

BRASHER FALLS - The Brasher Beavers ended their season with a win at the Chicks W/Sticks Tournament in Scottsville.

The Beavers made it to the final game by beating the Buffalo Saberettes 6-4 on Friday, Chicks w/Sticks 7-1 on Saturday, and Webster Slapshot Sisters 2-1 on Sunday. The locals then went up against the Saberettes again for the championship in what turned out to be a back and forth, physical game.

Danielle Colterman opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal in the second period. The Saberettes came right back wit the equalizer before Jodi White restored the Brasher lead before the end of the second period.

The Saberettes scored midway through the third to tie it up before Natalie Gravlin connected with 1:08 left in regulation to lift the Bears to the 3-2 win and the tournament title.

Other team members included; Kim Hill, Julia Rose, Lisa Colbert, Krista Francis, Bethany St. Hilaire, Tammy Burnett, Sara Lynch, Jenn Grant, Jen Sawyer, Amy Arquiett, Rose Bronchetti, Cindy Lauzon and Becky Byrns. Leo Gibson served as coach.

The Beavers will kick off their 2014-15 season at the Sixth Annual Droppin the Gloves on Cancer tournament held at the Tri-Town Arena in October.
