CANTON Begin Canton Canoe Weekend by heading to The TAUNY Center May 1 at 5:30 p.m. for a talk by Adirondack guideboat builder Chris Woodward of the Woodward Boat Shop in Saranac Lake, followed by a reception to celebrate the start of the paddling season.
Alongside one of his guideboats displayed in Traditional Arts in Upstate New Yorks main gallery, Mr. Woodward will discuss the history and construction of this unique water craft.
