Heuvelton Sweeps Lisbon

LISBON - The Heuvelton Baseball and Softball teams took different avenues to NAC West Division wins over Lisbon on Monday.

In baseball action, the Bulldogs scored three runs in the sixth inning and Mike Martin scored on a throwing error in a 4-3 win over the host Golden Knights.

In softball action, the Bulldogs scored early and often in a 25-5 win over Lisbon.

BASEBALL

Heuvelton 4, Lisbon 3: Alex Arduine pitched very well for Lisbon striking out 10 in six innings but Heuvelton’s capitalized on a throwing error to thirdbase in a first and third situation and won a meeting of archrivals.

“Alex just pitched a great game. But we had a costly mistake. We just need to focus now on tommorrow with Harrisville,” said LCS coach Jeff Houmiel.

Martin (1 1-3 innings) picked up the save for reliever Colin Trathen (2 2-3 Innings) who earned the win. Trathen, Martin, and Jack Palmer finished with six strikeouts combined.

Aiden Scagel supplied a single and a double while Jordan McCaulay (double), Martin (single), and Cole Piercey (single) each contributed a hit. Trathen scored once.

Arduine supplied a double and a single and scored a run and Joey Pellerin produced two singles and scored a run for Lisbon. Jordyn Carr ripped two singles while Adam Kelley added a single. Jake Pellerin scored once.

Heuvelton 25, Lisbon 5: Alexis Weidner (5 innings) and Paige McCormick (2 innings) combined for 10 strikeouts in the eight hitter. Weidner produced three singles while Hannah Thornhill belted a three run homerun and a single to lead the offense. Logan Tallman, Alexis Sawyer, Paige McCormick each produced two hits.

Claire Donaldson supplied two singles and a double for Lisbon. Sierra Dobbs connected for a triple and Katie Sovie lined two singles. Sierra Ashley and Nicole Neadom added a single.

DEMONS FALL

Brynna Powell fanned six and allowed six hits in a 18-2 Norwood-Norfolk win over Hermon-DeKalb in softball play.

Kylie Lashomb stroked two singles for Norwood-Norfolk. Sidney Molnar, Powell, Brianna Deshane, and Katrina Durant all singled once.

Rhys Bryant connected for two singles for Hermon-DeKalb. Sabrina Wood, Delaney Kerr, Courtenay Davis, and Brooke Woodrow each added a single.
