M-W stays unbeaten in baseball


MADRID - Harrison VanBuren picked up a victory as a starter and in relied as Madrid-Waddington stayed unbeaten atop the NAC East Baseball race with an 11-2, 9-8 doubleheader sweep over Chateaugay on Monday.

In NAC West Division action Heuvelton gained a key sweep over Morristown to stay one game behind unbeaten Harrisville which swept Hammond.

Lisbon won the nightcap to split with Edwards-Knox.

M-W 11- Chateaugay 2: Harrison VanBuren struck out nine in five innings hurling a three-hitter in the five inning game. VanBuren also singled twice and drove in two runs and Aaron Armstrong led the offense with three singles and two RBIs.

Jacob Barney stroked two singles and Mike Thew added two RBIs. Ashline and Niles hit safely for Chateaugay.

M-W 9 - Chateaugay: Harrison VanBuren picked the win in relief of Noah Blair after taking the lea don aggressive base-running by Kyle Pickering and Brandon Vice.

Boyea, Cowan and LaBare hit safely for Chateaugay.

Heuvelton 7 - Morristown 2: Mike Martin tossed his third NAC West win of the season in striking out eight and also went three-for-three at the plate along with Jack Palmer (RBI). Dylan Liscum rapped an RBI double and Jordan Macaulay, Casey Smith and Andrew Woodard singled.

Chris Brooks and Kater VanArnam singled twice for Morristown with Zach Kanaly, Ryan Vollmer and Jacob Fox adding singles.

Heuvelton 18 - Morristown 0: Jack Palmer pitched four hitless innings and Colin Trathen gave up one hit in two innings. The Heuvelton offense featured three singles and three RBIs by Jordan Macaulay and a triple by Andrew Woodard. Also, two RBIs from Martin, Palmer, Dylan Liscum, Ben Jacobs and Cole Piercey and two runs scored by Aidan Scagel.

Karter VanArnam accounted for the lone Morristown hit.

E-K 11 - Lisbon 6: The combination of Kaden Dandrow and Devin Clark struck out eight held the Knights scoreless over the last four innings. Clark also rapped a double and two singles and Dandrow stroked three singles for the winners who also received a double by Jeremiah Randall.

Alex Arduine and Joey Pellerin struck out nine for Lisbon and Donnie Duprey roped two doubles. Joey Pellerin, Jake Pellerin, Riley Alberto and Logan Matthews all added singles to the Knights’ cause.

Lisbon 5 - E-K 3: The Knights rebounded behind a six-strikeout combined five-hitter by Adam Kelley and Donnie Duprey. Joey Pellerin doubled and singled for the winners with Jake Pellerin stroking two singles, Donnie Seguin rapped a double and Riley Alberto adding a single.

Kaden Dandrow and Jordan Davis doubled for E-K with Devin Clark, Jeremiah Randall and Shane Mackin stroking singles.

Harrisville 14, Hammond 1: Justin Hartle tossed a seven strikeout five-hitter allowing one earned run for the Pirates. He also supplied a two-run double.

Jared Dreythaler added two doubles while Kevin Kapfer, Chris Sullivan and Justin Brackett each singled.

Brock Tulley, Collin Martin, Chris Sherron, Dan Clement, and Alex Folkeson each singled for Hammond.

Harrisville 12 - Hammond 3: Jared Dreythaler allowed four hits and struck out five in the win. Tim Fowler supplied a two run double while Justin Hartle added a single and a double.

Nathan Weaver added two singles while Chris Sullivan added a double. Justin Brackett and Jared Dreythaler each singled. Payton Frisina, Cullen Martin, Chris Sherron and Fleming each singled for Hammond.
