OFA Sweeps In Track-Field


TUPPER LAKE - The OFA Track-Field teams made the long bus ride home from Tupper Lake an enjoyable one after the Boys and Girls teams claimed wins over the host Lumberjacks and Madrid-Waddington.

M-W will host the NAC Track-Field forces on Saturday at the Yellowjacket Invitational.


Donovan Smith climbed the sprint ladder as OFA (2-1) defeated Madrid-Waddington 140-82 and Tupper Lake 153-65 in a double-dual meet in Tupper Lake. Madrid-Waddington added a 142-71 win over the Lumberjacks (0-6).

Smith won the 100, 200 and 400 dashes and also teamed with Owen Pearson, Jake Sias and Taylor Bouchard on the winning the 4x400 relay.

OFA swept relay honors with Pearson, Garrett Dennis, Joe Grizzuto and Bailey Phelps leading the 4x800 race and Alex and Jake Sias, DaKota Pratt and Kevin Joanette pacing the 4x100 relay.

Other individual winners for the Devils were: Nate Stowe (110 hurdles), Owen Pearson (800), Joe Grizzuto (high jump), Alex Sias (long jump), Jake Sias who combined with Taylor Bouchard for a 1-2 in the triple jump.

Ian Hawkins won the shot put and discus for the Yellow Jackets (3-3). Tyler Robinson led the 1600 run and Brendan O’Neil paced the 400 hurdles.


Charlotte Miller won the long jump and ran on the winning 400 relay with Breanna Hacia, Marky Willard and Danielle Steenkamer as OFA (2-1) defeated Madrid-Waddington 171-140 and Tupper Lake 180-101 in a double-dual meet in Tupper Lake. Madrid-Waddington (3-3) defeated Tupper Lake 150-116.

Ellen Miller led the 400 hurdles for OFA which received key second places from: Charlotte Miller (100, TJ), Danielle Steenkamer (800), Breanne Hacia (200), Sarah Mitchell (3000).

Gabby and Cassidy Scott led the M-W scoring after combining to lead the 4x800 relay with Hannah Marcellus and Kelsie Tiernan. Gabby Scott also led the 800 and 3000 runs and Cassidy Scott paced the 1500.

The Lumberjacks (0-6) featured three multi-event winners: Lauren Bouck (100, 200), Tess Klossner (400, triple jump) and Katie Zurek (high jump, shot put, discus).


Jacob Erdman and Joshua Uribe each won two individual events as Gouverneur (7-0) defeated Salmon River 179-54 and host Potsdam 159-73 in a double-dual meet. Salmon River (0-3-1) tied Potsdam 106 1/2-106 1/2.

Erdman won the 1,600-meter run and the 3,200 for Gouverneur. Uribe picked up wins in the 110 hurdles and triple jump. O’den Robertson won the 100, 200 and long jump for Potsdam (1-3-1).


Margeaux Simmons won the 3,000 and 400 hurdles to lead Gouverneur (6-1) to a 197-72 win over Salmon River and 155-135 win over Potsdam in a double-dual meet in Potsdam. The Sandstoners added a 165-81 win over Salmon River (0-4). Maddie Drechsel won the 100 and 200 for Potsdam (2-3).
