Funeral services for Marie Sovie, age 78, of Ogdensburg, will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00PM and 6:00 to 8:00PM at Frary Funeral Home on 515 Caroline Street. Mrs. Sovie passed away Wednesday morning, May 7, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Marie is survived by her husband, Edward, of 58 years; two sons, Mike Sovie of Rochester, Mark Sovie and his significant other, Brianna Miles, of Endicott, NY; two daughters, Tammy Beaulieu and her husband, Steve, of Ogdensburg, Torey Sovie and her husband, Bill, of Waddington; two sisters, Dixie Adams and her husband, Dwayne, of Ogdensburg and Donalda Dorsky and her husband, Wayne, of Bergen, NY; two brothers, Kenneth McWilliam and his wife, Evelyn, of Ogdensburg and Carl McWilliam and his wife, Ann, of Florida; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was born on October 1, 1935, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Russell and Harriett (Lake) McWilliam. She attended Ogdensburg Free Academy. She married Edward Sovie on January 1, 1956 at the Methodist Church in Ogdensburg. On their 25th Anniversary their marriage was blessed at Notre Dame Church. Marie worked at the Hepburn Hospital in the kitchen , she then later went to work at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center after 30 years of service as part of the kitchen staff.

Marie enjoyed crocheting, knitting and taking care of her grandchildren.

Marie was also a member of the Eureka Rebekah’s where she held the post of treasurer for many years.

Donations may be made in memory of Marie Sovie to the James P. Wilmot Cancer Treatment Center in care of University of Rochester 601 Elmwood Ave Rochester NY 14642.
