Woolf seeking campaign donations as birthday favors

Aaron G. Woolf, the Democratic candidate to succeed Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, in the 21st Congressional District, is using his 50th birthday to rally supporters to his candidacy.

It started with a 50th birthday party in Plattsburgh Tuesday night, and continued this morning with an email blast from his campaign that suggested the best birthday present Mr. Woolf could receive would be a nice campaign donation. The email had hot links to the campaign’s online donation form.

“We are very excited to celebrate Aaron’s birthday. We’re asking everyone to rally their support and give Aaron a birthday contribution,” the email said. “Please click here and make a contribution of $5 or more for Aaron’s 50th birthday!”

Mr. Woolf, an award-winning documentary film maker with homes in Elizabethtown and Manhattan, is running unopposed in his party after the state Board of Elections upheld objections to the petitions of Stephen W. Burke, Macomb, and removed him from the primary ballot.

Republicans Elise M. Stefanik, Willsboro, and Matthew A. Doheny, Watertown, are waging a pitched battle for the Republican nomination. Ms. Stefanik has already secured the Conservative Party Line. Green Party candidate Matthew J. Funiciello will also be on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
