WATERTOWN City police charged Anthony M. Torres, 22, of 221 E. Main St., Upper Apt., at 11:31 p.m. Friday on Public Square with driving while intoxicated and driving the wrong way down a one-way street. His blood alcohol content was not listed.
Mr. Torres also was charged with second-degree criminal contempt for allegedly violating a stay-away order of protection signed by Judge Eugene R. Renzi out of City Court after police said he was found in a 2010 Cadillac with his wife, Sara H. Torres, 22, the protected party, of 135 Flower Ave. E., Upper Apt.
Mrs. Torres was charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly yelling obscenities on Public Square with several pedestrians observing her behavior, police said. She was issued an appearance ticket for City Court.
Mr. Torres was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, where he was held on $500 bail. As of Saturday afternoon, his bail had been paid and he had been released.
