BRASHER FALLS - A well conceived play decided a fiercely contested game on Friday as OFA won a double overtime boys lacrosse thriller 9-8 over St. Lawrence Central.
The victory was the Devils second one-goal victory over the Larries and gave Coach Matt Morleys 6-7 team the opportunity to secure the first .500 season in the history of the program when it hosts Colton-Pierrepont this morning in 9:30 a.m. Senior Day game at Kennedy School.
The Devils broke an 8-8 deadlock 1:12 into the second overtime on a play started and finished by Austin Morley-Sloan.
Morley-Sloan controlled the faceoff, relayed the ball to Taylor Richardson who drove to the net and passed it off to Dave Prudhomme who found Morley-Sloan breaking inside for a walkoff goal.
We scored on a set play and executed it perfectly. It was a well-played game and the guys bounced back from a loss against Saranac Lake, said Coach Morley.
With a win today we will have the best finish in program history and we can move up in the standings and increase our number of All-NAC selections. Thats important because we have guys who deserve it.
Morley-Sloan finished with four goals on the day and Andrew Ruddy delivered three goals and two assists. Nate Peo passed out three assists, Austin Putman passed out two assists and Taylor Richardson and Dave Prudhomme each tallied one goal with one assist.
Lukas Arquiett (3 assists), Brody Simonds (2 assists), Marshall Burninghausen (1 assist) and Styles Arquiett all connected for a pair of goals for SLC while Jacob Sutton notched a pair of assists.
Quinton Denner made six saves working the crease for the win while Kody Kocsis handled nine shots for the Larries (7-7).
