In an email to supporters, Republican congressional candidate Elise M. Stefanik announced that she will be campaigning in Watertown on June 2 with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin.
Ms. Stefanik and Rep. Ryan will appear together from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. at Savory Downtown Best Western, 300 Washington St. Price of admission is $50 per person and $150 to become a campaign sponsor. There is no cost for active duty military, according to the flier announcing the event.
Ms. Stefanik worked as director of debate preparation for Rep. Ryan when he was Mitt Romneys running mate in the 2012 presidential race.
The congressman, who is chairman of the U.S. House Budget Committee, has endorsed her in her bid for the 21st Congressional District seat held by Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh. Rep. Owens is not running for re-election.
On the same day, Democratic congressional candidate Aaron G. Woolf will be across town from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the IBEW Local 910 union hall, 25001 Water St. Donations are accepted but not required for admission to Mr. Woolfs event, according to the announcement.
Ms. Stefanik will face Watertown resident Matthew A. Doheny in a June 24 primary. The two candidates will debate each other next Tuesday at the Time Warner Cable studies in Albany. The debate will be televised at 7 p.m.
