Elise M. Stefanik, a Republican running for New Yorks 21st Congressional District, announced today that she has received the endorsement of 2012 Republican Presidential nominee and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
After working with Elise, I know she will make the 21st District proud and she will deliver results. Elise understands the needs of small businesses and how to grow the local economy. She is a person of integrity. Every campaign is different, but values dont change, Gov. Romney said in a news release about the endorsement.
Governor Romney brings people together to find solutions, even when the choices are tough hes proven that time and time again; in the private sector, as a Republican Governor in a northeastern state, and as a Presidential candidate. Governor Romneys personal endorsement means a great deal to our campaign. Our country and economy would be better off if we had him as our President today, Ms. Stefanik said.
Ms. Stefanik is running against Republican Matthew A. Doheny in a primary election set for June 24.
The two candidates will face each other in a debate today at Time Warner Cable News studios in Albany. The Times will have that story later today.
