TAUNY will host a buttermilk baking recipe swap and reception

CANTON — Traditional Arts in Upstate New York will host a recipe swap and an exhibit about life on north country dairy farms at the annual Dairy Princess festival.

From 2 to 4 p.m. June 7, TAUNY will host a buttermilk baking recipe swap and reception. Everyone is invited to bring copies of a favorite recipe that calls for buttermilk to share. Certified bakers around the area were invited to choose from previously submitted favorites and bake a couple of batches of goods to share at the reception after the Dairy Princess parade.

Visitors can vote for their favorite baked goods. Winners will be announced and invited to share their recipes and their stories, and visitors can talk with the bakers who brought them to the table.

TAUNY’s featured exhibit, “Every Single Day: Life on North Country Dairy Farms,” will be on display in the TAUNY gallery through June. The exhibit includes photographs and excerpts from interviews that tell the story of life on dairy farms across the region.

The TAUNY Center and North Country Folkstore both are located at 53 Main Street. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
