HAMMOND - On Tuesday June 3rd, Hammond Central honored its athletes for the 2013-2014 school year. The Hammond Athletic Association put on the evening and purchased the trophies for the student-athletes.

“It is a wonderful night to honor all the athletes. HAA does fundraising every year for this event and we are always in need for donations or ideas for activities to raise funds for the kids trophies, and we would like to thank all the community members and staff as well as administration for they do here at Hammond. Thats what makes our school SPECIAL, everyone is willing to help anyone at anytime” stated Katina Dillon HAA President.

Senior Emily Bush earned the Mark Davison Award for an athlete who plays two or more sports with the highest academic average.

Melissa Proven won the Greg Thiverege Memorial Award for the Top JV Basketball player.

Bridget Kron. Shandy Clemons. Tayler Bowman, and Emily Bush were honored as senior award recipents.

TEAM AWARDS

Varsity Soccer Girls: Courtney Bova took home MVP honors with Paige Frisina earning Most Improved,

Modified Girls Soccer: Erica Dixon was named the team’s outstanding sportsmanship winner.

Modified Girls Basketball: Madison Cazziol was the team’s outstanding sportsmanship winner.

Varsity Girls Basketball: Ally Crosby earned the Team’s Most Improved Player Award with Mikayla Horton and Courtney Bova sharing the Team MVP.

Varsity Basketball Boys: Zech Davidson-Cunningham and Thomas Gallowoy shared the Team’s Most Imporved player.

Varsity Girls Softball: Mikayla Horton pitched her way to a Co-MVP award while Courtney Bova showed Most Improved Player skills. Catcher Emily Bush earned Co-MVP honors.

Varsity Baseball: Colin Martin pitched and played thirdbase in a Co-MVP effort.

Casey Stewart was the Team’s Most Improved with Brock Tulley earning Co-MVP honors playing key positions in the infield.

Varsity Boys Soccer: Colin Martin and Alex Folkesson earned the top awards for their team from Coach Katina Dillon.
