CANTON — Throughout the past year, Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County’s master gardener volunteers have provided educational programs to the residents of St Lawrence County, and now they’ve turned their attention to the Cooperative Extension Learning Farm.

An exceptionally long winter gave the master gardener volunteers time to draft a master plan for enhancing the educational and aesthetic value of the farm. Over the past two weeks they’ve been implementing the first phase, planting site-appropriate shrubs and perennials such as blueberry, gooseberry and double-blooming day lilies around the office.

All costs have been covered through fundraising and donations, including bulk mulch from Seaway Timber Harvesting, Massena.
