The Place-Pepsi, Lisbon’s SLFCU earn North Country Men’s Soccer wins


Ogdensburg Pepsi - The Place scored eight minutes inton the game on Wednesday at Kennedy School and went onto score a 5-0 win over Frary’s Funeral Home in North Country Men’s Summer Soccer Association play.

Grant Prudhomme, Elijah Finley, Mike O’Neill, Matt Piercey and Andrew Para all scored for Pepsi-The Place with Jake Sias producing five saves in the shutout,

In other action, St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union of Lisbon topped Jrecks-AMP 3-1, CJ’s - Chip’s Place knocked off Massena’s Savings and Loan - Kassian Realty 3-1, S&L Electric of Colton topped Heuvelton Cornerstone Church-TC Vet Clinich 6-0, and Canton North Country Savings Bank tied Potsdam Cornerstone Energy/Seacomm 2-2.

St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union of Lisbon 3, Jreck’s AMP 1: Brek Murray scored in the first half for St, Lawrence Federal Credit Union but Gian Rufa rifled a cornerkich to Andrew Guimond who finished for a 1-1 tie for Jrecks’s AMP. Murray and Donnie Wilhelm converted solo goals in the second galf.

Potsdam CJ’s/Chip’s Place 3, Massena Savings and Loan-Kassian Realty 1: CJ’s-Chips Place earned a 2-1 halftime lead and sealed the win on a penalty kick goal from Adam diVincenzo in the second half. Tony Betrus scored in veteran style with Zach Votra assistsing. Grant Sharlow scored from Ted Cook for a 2-0 lead before Tyler Jaquith scored from Ryan Chavin for Massena.

Ben Steinberg stopped eight shots in CJ’s - Chips Place’s goal while Alan Davis had 10 stops for Massena.

Canton North Country Savings Bank 2, Potsdam Cornerstone Energy/Seacomm 2: A late goal by North Country Savings Bank with three minutes to play forced a tie. Blake Hence and Matt Konecnik each scored once for Potsdam. Travis Jordan tallied a goal for Canton.

Colton S&L Electric 6, Heuvelton Cornerstone Church/T&C Vets 0: Alex Bonno generated two goals and one assist, Jeremy Dunning also connected for two goals and one assist, and Devin Gruneisen scored a goal and drew an assist leading Colton’s S&L Electric. Jeff McGregor produced a singleton while Mike Bonno chipped in an assist.

WOMEN’S SOCCER Canton 4. Heuvelton 0: Sara Elliott, Jackie Maynard, Emily Lemieux and Katlyn Hart all scored for Canton.

North Country Collision (Potsdam) 3, Akwesasne 2: Abby Gruneisen generated a pair of second half goals leading NC Collision while Lia Davis added a goal. Jenny Tardelli made 10 saves in the win.

FC Freeze/Corning 5, Gouverneur 0: Alicia Jones scored 12 minutes into the game on a penalty kick and was followed by Mary Young on a setup from Morgan Doyle.

In the second galf, Brianna Hayes connected from Ashley Pike followed by two more goals from Young with Lauren Smith and Jessie Beattie. Morgan Rosser produced the shutout with very little goaltending experience.
