LOWVILLE — A 16-year-old Diana youth was charged Sunday by Lewis County sheriff’s deputies with fourth-degree grand larceny, following an incident Friday morning in which he allegedly took a vehicle without permission of the owner and crashed it.
The teen, whose name was not disclosed by deputies, took a Chevrolet Suburban about 10 a.m. Friday from a residence on Old State Road in the town of Diana, according to deputies. Following a short drive, he crashed the vehicle on Hogsback Road, they said.
The suspect was located by Watertown police Sunday afternoon and turned over to Lewis County deputies. He was arraigned in Lowville Village Court and sent to Lewis County jail on $1,500 bail. He was granted youthful offender status by the court.
Deputies could not provide additional information Monday night about the crash or how the suspect was found.
